            This year
This year in room 17 I liked being in a computer class because we got to own our own computer “awesom”.  When you are in a computer class don’t expect to always be on your computer, you sometimes you do some maths that does not count your computer it is still fun.

Safe Cycling

    Safe Cycling...
How do I stay safe on my bike? I can tell you that in my 4 paragraphs.  The first paragraph will be a description about if you your bike got stolen .  The next paragraph will be what clothing you will need, the 3rd paragraph will be the safety check  and the last paragraph will be the safety rules.

If your bike ever gets lost you call the police and tell them your bike ID number, the colour and the bike type. To find the ID number you turn the bike over and inline with the seat, where the metal is,  you will find the ID number,   It could be on a sticker or carved into the bike.

If you want to go cycling you have to have good shoes like sneakers and you have to a helmet that is comfortable to wear.  It needs to be tight when you are going cycling so it doesn’t slip off and and gets hooked up in the pedals when you are bike. If you outside on your bike when it is a sunny day you need to put sun block on.

There are 13 places to check on your bike but most important things to
check is the front and back brakes, steering, seat height, tyres pumped up and the gears are work smooth. You can not forget to check your helmet then you will be safe to go on you bike.

The safety rule are the most important thing in safe cycling. You have to listen to the safety rule so you don’t hurt anyone or you hurt yourself. The safety rules should all be easy to remember, One of the rules are to know how to ride on the road and know how to turn with one hand.

I hope you learnt a lot in my 4 paragraph and to be safe on your bike is to do a safety check.

The force

      The Force
Today for our experiment we found out how the hair dryer could hold up a ping pong ball and I will show you how to do it and what you will need to do this experiment.

What we needed was a hair dryer and a ping pong ball and if you want you can make an obstacle course but we didn't make one.

Once you have a hair dryer and a ping pong ball you must plug the hair dryer. Then you grab the ping pong ball and turn the hair dryer on and put the ping pong ball on top then the ping pong ball will look like it is flying.

Science

           ~science~

What happens if trapped air gets hot?  Well I can tell you that in my four paragraphs.  I will also talk about other things to do with this air science and how to do it and what you will need to do it

If you want to try this experiment out then you will need 2x bottles, 2x balloons and you will need two contains one with cold water and one with hot water.  Once you have all the stuff you put one of the balloons on the top of the bottle then do it to the other bottle.  Next you grab the hot and cold water and put one bottle in the cold water and one in the hot water and see what happens to the balloons.

When it is in the water it has to be immersed in the water or the experiment will not work also when you put one bottle in hot water you could burn your hand when you are holding the bottle down  so that is why to have some tongs when doing this experiment.

When the bottles are in the water you can see how one of the balloons has expanded and one has not expand. How it expanded? Well the air got heated and that caused the air to move up to the the balloon until it couldn't go up any more.

If you want to try this out then try it out and if trapped air hot it will expand  until it can’t expand any more.

Yachting Reflection

Yachting Reflection

Something I was pleased with...
The thing that I was pleased was that me and my buddy worked together and I was happy how it went, I was scared but I still did it with my buddy and I was pleased with how he cheered me on to do it.

Something that I improved on.....
The thing that I improved with was steering the boat because I haven’t done it before and also doing the mane sheet rope because it was confusing to do and I improved in all of those things.

Something that made me think...
The thing that I had to think the most was doing the centreboard because it was hard and confusing and I have not done it before in my life.

Something that I thought was scary.....
The scary thing was when I went for my first time and the boat was tipping and I was freaking out. I asked if we could go back to shore and he said, “aaa yeah!” but now I’m not scared at all.

The thing I could've done better.......
The thing that I could get better at is doing the mane sheet rope because Kharn didn’t tell me how to use the main sheet rope.  Now I know how to use it and  now I know next time.

Sailing story

                         Sailing

My family and I  went off for a sailing adventure for the holidays. We were in Wellington but then we sailed to Christchurch. I wondered how long that is.  I sailed for about three hours and I ended up in a strong current and it blew me to Dunedin.  That took two and a half hours and after all that I ended up spewing in the water before I got to land. It looks like we have to stay here because of that catastrophe.   Well theres some cool places to go with my family.  We could go and see the whales and thats all I know that is in Dunedin.

It ended up that we stayed in Dunedin for one year till our yacht is finished getting bolt so we could sail back to Hastings.  The bit that  got broken is of the starboard side so that was boring but at least we got back nice this time.  That is the main thing. That was a big catastrophe because I went from Wellington to Dunedin that is long for a little yacht it teaches you to sail safe and make sure you sail where it is not too windy and not small and be confident and sail safe so this doesn't happen to you.

Horse riding

Horse riding
2.Who is your favourite horse to ride and why? Thea
4.Why do you like horses do you train? Alex
5.Where do you hope your horse riding will take you in the future?  Mrs Roil
3.What do you want to do with the horse riding. Is there a special thing that you are waiting for?Phoenix
1.when did you start liking horses? George

Horse riding
I started to like horses when I was 5 because I want to follow my mum's footsteps. When I was 5, I went to a place where I learn how to ride and my favourite horse that is there is Iven because he is a good learner pony to ride.  I want to keep doing horse riding because I want to go to the horse of the year to compete in their horse shows and I am waiting for  for that day to come.

I love horses because they are fun to ride on and I train on my little pony Carlos.  In the future I hope that my horse riding will take me to a whole new level for me to go to.  Horses are big animals to ride that is why they made hamlets and cross-country vests and also riding boots so when a big horse stands on your foot it will not break your foot you can also wear gumboots and you wear jodhpurs. Horses wear saddles and bridles.

A horses life cycle goes like this: newborn foal next a yearling female-filly male-colt then an adult horse female-mare male-colt. The stuff that you mainly use on horses is a carry comb, body brush, hoof pick, water brush and the hose to wash the pony when you are using the hose you have to be gentle so you horse doesn’t get a fright and take off and also you have to tie your horse up tight so that doesn’t happen.

Why You Should Go To New Zealand For Your Holidays

Why You Should Go To New Zealand In Your Holidays
You should go to New Zealand for your holidays not Alaska  because new zealand has lots of nature and  views and outdoors, more people go to new zealand then alaska because nz has camping grounds and alaska isn’t a place for people to go because of their animals that eat meat.

Nature
You can see new zealand national bird the kiwi and maybe the white kiwi . There are many animals in new zealand like the magpie and lots of wild birds to see and catch to have as a pets. Kaitawa has lots of nature in the confidence course and the long walks you can see at kaitawa some doves.

Outdoors
Outdoors you will find it nice and fresh and you can do lots of things like you can go to the hot pools, you can take your kids to some park and have some ice cream and you can go to the beach and have a cool off the best place to go to have a cool off would be the Waimarama because I’ve been there before with my family and it would be perfect for you and your kids.

Views
At night you can see at the top of Te Mata peak you can see one side of new zealand almost it is so beautiful to see  for your first time and also at kaitawa theres a long walk to a  big lake and so cold we I went to go their for my school camp and my friend fall in the freezing cold iced water.

Places to go
There are lots of place to go in new zealand like Hastings, Napier, Rotorua, Taupo first hastings, hastings is the home of action parks like splash plant, rainbows end next napier, napier is by the edge of new zealand and it has a beach that is dangerous to swim in next is rotorua, rotorua is a smelly place to live in and it smells like rotten eggs next is taupo, taupo has a lake called lake taupo because it is the mean lake.

So you should go to new zealand for your holidays and see all the views and see all the nature.

My Mum

                        My Mum

As my mum strode around my bedroom saying “ why isn't your bedroom tidy”,  Even if she growls as loud as a lion I know she still cares about me. She is always is wearing something colorful. Her hair is so blonde that when her face is in the sun you can hardly see her beautiful  smooth hair even if she is always losing her sunglasses I still love her and She sometimes embarrasses me in front of my friends.

My mum is always cleaning the house while I’m at school learning fun maths. She is always cooking something tasty and new for me to try .“ keep those heels down Kayla “ my mum is   always teaching me  to ride like her and making me get better at jumping on my little pony. She wears the most pointy high heels she can find in her wardrobe just to look pretty but I think she  looks pretty just the way she is.

My mum likes a lot of thing like horse because she told me when she was young she use to ride when I wasn’t born she showed me all of her photos of her at Pony Club and at shows and now she is going to  teach me to ride like that I am so happy that I have a mum like that to teach me all she got.  She is the nicest mum that I would ever have in my life, I love my mum the way she is and I don’t want her to change.

My mums interests is her marge rings which are gold and they are very very old and dusty.

The Catch

              The Catch
Arr my paw. I trapped my foot on the bush. Oh no! What's this?  It’s a human.  He cut the bush so I could run away. I was going to go away but I quickly turned around and jumped onto the human.  Then I smelled fish so I zoomed off to where the fish smell was. I grabbed the fish and raced off though prickly bushes and I had to climbed hills and jump over logs and go through tunnels.   I was jumping over bushes and brushes then I through the fish in the water.  The human saw all the big fishes for his village. I gave him a stick so he could catch the big fish.  He patted me on the head then he caught two big fishes.  He gave me a fish then I disappeared like dust.

Onepoto Caves

Onepoto Caves

The part I liked the most at camp was caving.   We went to the caves on the 27th of May.  The caves are at Camp Kaitawa.  My class, room 17 went to visit the caves.  We went there for a class camp to learn about new areas and to have fun.

The track starts on a 10 minute walk, through a number of rocky outcrops and overhangs.  The caves look like a big pile of rocks on top of each other.  They smell like the dust and they look all oval shaped and circular.

Next time I will go in more caves because I enjoyed it and I want to go in trickier caves to challenge myself.  I want to try and fit through little holes and squeeze through skinny openings.

I choose to write about Onepoto caves because I’ve never been in caves before.

Horse of the year 2013

A cold wind blew straight into the showgrounds.  The car park was packed with rows and rows of cars all lined up straight.  The ticket stand lady handed over the wristbands.  Mine was blue.  I was so excited I could hardly wait.  Finally my mum put her wristband on and then we could  go in.   In the distance I could see  horses leaping over jumps that were as tall as me.  I asked if we can do some shopping we ended up spending our money on my pony Carlos. I also got to see Mark Todd and he signed my hat.   We watched him ride on his horse.  His horse is a chestnut.  A chestnut is a Goldie horse . Finally its night, go go go come on you can jump it I've seen you jump it before you can do it yaaay ! run run run you can catch up , I'm glad that's over .now it’s the jump off oh on !
